The need to attend an accredited institution cannot be overemphasized if you ever want to be successful in your career. This is one factor that many people ignore to their detriment when looking for distance education university.
No doubt, there are many distance education university out there churning out different kinds of degrees in various fields of endeavor. While this is good news, it is also a cause of concern as many of them are mere diploma mills that give students worthless certificates. The reason why we still have many of these schools in existence is because there are so many people out there looking for faster routes to getting a degree. This group of people don’t want to work hard for the certificate. This is why they often fall prey to schools offering fake certificates.
Accreditation is one factor that you must consider above all others when seeking for distance education university. When a school is accredited, it means that the school has met minimum standard expected of a school wishing to give students certificates. The accrediting body believes that the school is equipped with both material and human resources to impart knowledge. Hence, attending such a school gives you peace of mind. One, you are sure that your certificate will not be rejected by prospective employers or other institutions if you want to advance in your education. Two, you are sure of getting the best form of education.
It is not difficult to find an accredited distance education university. It is highly recommended that you consult the United States Department of Education and the Council for Higher Education Accreditation for assistance. These two organizations will help you with the list of accredited institutions that you can attend. Also, you can visit education forums and chat rooms on the web for help. Members of the forums can help you know which school is accredited and which school you should stay away from.
While distance education university is a great idea, you must ensure that the school as well as the program you are enrolling for is accredited. This is very important if the course or program you are enrolling for has an association. If you attend a school having a program that is not accredited by the relevant association, the association will not welcome you into its fold.

It has allowed countless students a chance to further their education, while allowing these phones maintain their obligations thus to their families and employers. While distance education is not for everyone, it’s certainly stood the test of energy. The next is often a brief timeline of events associated with distance education.

• 1840 – Isaac Pitman begins teaching shorthand by correspondence in england.
• 1858 – The University of London creates its External Program.
• 1883 – Los angeles State authorizes the Chautauqua Institute to award degrees earned via correspondence.
• 1891 – The Colliery Engineer School of Mines renames itself International Correspondence Schools.
• 1892 – The University of Chicago starts administering the 1st university courses by mail.
• 1906 – The Calvert School of Baltimore becomes the 1st primary school in the us to provide correspondence courses.
• 1916 – The National University Training Association is created in the usa.
• 1921 – Pennsylvania State College begins broadcasting courses about the radio.
• 1933 – The University of Iowa begins broadcasting courses a tv personality.

• 1950 – The Ford Foundation begins offering grants to create and develop educational programs for television broadcasting.
• 1967 – The Corporation for Public Broadcasting is created.
• 1970 – Walden University is established.
• 1974 – California State University offers a Masters degree via correspondence.
• 1982 – The National University Teleconferencing Network is established.
• 1984 – The personal computer is named “man of the year” by Time Magazine.

There are many online courses offered to members of everyone. The wonderful thing about online education is that you have no borders, and prospective students worldwide now have access to the same opportunities.
